LISTEN FIRST/LISTEN AT ALL LEVELS. Clients and their staff are not ignorant. They know when things are not right, and often they can clearly explain the problem given time and patience. On occasion, the lowest ranking member in an organization will have the clearest view of the issues. That can only be learned by listening with an open mind at all levels.

GET THE DESIGN RIGHT. Get the design for the solution right and it will drive itself, often correct your mistakes, and succeed in ways you never imagined. Get it wrong, and you will fight it at every turn.

STOP EVIL/GREED WITH DISCLOSURE. If you have a great idea and you are concerned less than honest folks will take the idea and lock it up with patent, publish it in a public place making it open source. You will not have sole control of it, but they will not be able to keep it from the public. Then you can strive to be the best at delivering that idea.

SET IDEAS FREE. If you have an idea that screams to be free, do your best to set it free, and try to make sure in that freedom the people who need it most learn of it. Work to evangelize great ideas and the profits will come. The quickest way to strangle and idea is to hold it too tightly. 

RESPECT AND HAVE SINCERE EMPATHY. for your clients and/or customers. If you cannot do that, then get out of whatever business you are in. Respect and empathy are fundamental to doing the best for your clients and are fundamental for your own well being. If you can’t respect and have empathy for your clients you will have difficulty recognizing and meeting their needs, and that will mean you will do less than your best. If you hate what you do, you will wind up hating your clients and doing them a disservice, and in the end hating yourself.

EVIL SELDOM KNOWS IT IS EVIL. No matter how evil, how debase, or corrupt, villains seldom see themselves as the villain. They will generate excuses, find justifications, and explain away their wrongdoing. They might do it over minor things at first, but eventually nothing will be beyond excuse and self-forgiveness. Every major faith and belief system point to the fundamentally flawed nature of our kind. When dealing with evil, understand it may not even recognize it is evil. That is the first step in defeating it.
